A Foolish Son & A Contentious Wife, Proverb 19:13

As you read the Proverbs, you must understand that while God meant for them to be learned by all of His children, Solomon shared the Wisdom he got from God in particularly for his sons. So when you read a proverb that is gender specific, there are lessons that women should also learn. Thus in today's Proverb, women should be looking for a Godly man, to help her raise the children to be wise Godly adults. So both men and women should be wise in whom they chose to marry, or they will be finding more joy outside of home, than they will inside it.

I am sharing chosen excerpts from a commentary by;
Let God Be true.com.
To read it in full, please follow the link above.

Without a doubt, the two horrible things that can happen to a man is to marry an odious woman, or he can have foolish children. Both are disasters and make marriage and children very sober matters. The persons and relationships that should be for help and pleasure become like enemies. It is wisdom to carefully consider these potential threats and avoid them at all costs.

This proverb is priceless. The two matters at stake are very serious – an unhappy marriage or shameful children. Either one tortures and destroys a man over many years. A man enduring both faces daily pain hard to describe in words. But God gave this proverb by King Solomon to save you from both evils, and He reduced it down to one single, simple rule. Glorious wisdom! Incredible mercy and kindness! Keep reading!

A foolish son is also a horrible thing in a man’s life. It can steal the joy and life out of your soul, knowing that you generated and trained an idiot. The Preacher saw foolish sons, for he had foolish brothers, and his son Rehoboam was a fool. Read his pain and learn the sober lesson (Pr 10:1; 15:20; 17:21,25; 23:15-16,24-25; 29:3,15). It is wisdom to learn from the mistakes and pain of others – so pay attention and grasp this lesson.

Pornography Will Lead To Adultery, Proverb 5:21-23

Before you read today's commentary I am sharing, please understand that the training of purity begins at childhood. It is a training that must be fully learned by them before they reach pre-puberty, so that when their bodies start changing they will already have been prepared for the questions they will ask others if you did not already do so. If others must tell them, then there is a 90% chance they will not be told the truth.

Trust In The Lord With All Your Heart, Proverb 3:5-6

Ever wonder what you would do if your leader told you to drive into the Ocean after he parted the waters? Would you still have enough faith to trust in the God your leader trusts? Well at the time when Pharaoh's army had the Israelites trapped between him and the Red Sea, the faith of the Israelites was very weak.(Exodus 14) At any sign of troubles they were ready to leave him and his God to go back to Egypt and the bondage of slavery.

If Destruction Is Our Future, We Are To Blame, Proverb 29:18

Today Americans have stopped acting in terms of their own moral, ethical religious beliefs and principles. They stopped acting on what they knew was right, and the "me attitude" has become the measure of everything. However, moral societies are the only ones that work.

If anyone thinks there is not a direct and inviolable relationship between personal integrity in a society and that society's prosperity, that person has simply not studied history . . . Great moral societies, built upon faith in God, honor, trust, and the law blossom like a flower in.

Some 160 years ago the French historian Alexis de Tocqueville wrote that "America is great because America is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." Today I look see America, and what I see is a nation that is no longer good, nor great. We are a nation in decline. Just as Israel failed to be great when they turned from God, so too has America.

To Defend Evil Will bring A Curse From The People, Proverb 24:24

He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous,"
Him the people will curse;
Nations will abhor him.

Proverb 24:24
Today we may witness the mass destruction of the NFL. Remember, Satan twists reality of those who do not keep their minds eyes and hearts on Christ. When it comes to winning the souls of the rich and famous, the most powerful tool in Satan's arsenal, is the fame and fortune they seek. For those who reach the pinnacle of success, their minds will lie to them about their importance to the human race.

It is already difficult to avoid sin, with fame and fortune it becomes almost impossible. Paul tells us that the desire for wealth and fame can lead to many pitfalls, because the love of money is the very root of evil. Not money in and of itself, but the love for it.
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)
So we must never forget that with this new found power, comes much responsibility. Without Christ in your life you will inevitably fail. Even with Him in your corner, the temptations are powerful. Like Solomon himself, many men and women throughout history started off with their hearts and minds on God, just to lose sight of Him after they gained the wealth and fame they desired.

When it comes to professional athletes today, they become part of the whole entertainment industry. An industry that has long ago sold it's soul to Satan. Their new friends and advisors will twist their minds into believing good is evil and evil is good. It's just a matter of time before they too turn against all that is righteous by defending the all evil deeds of Satan's minions in the world.

That is why much prayer and diligence is needed to keep from falling into Satan's hands when money becomes no obstacle for your desires. It would be better if you pray for just enough to survive and anonymity in the world, than for fame and fortune.

Vengeance Is Mine Says The Lord, Proverb 6:34-35

Mind you, Proverb 6:34-35 was written some 2900 years ago when women had no power. It was normal for men to have multiple wives and concubines. After all, Solomon himself had some 700 wives and 300 concubines. However, times have changed, and women can be as vengeful if not more so than men when they find out their husband has been sleeping around with another woman.

This Proverb can be used for both both men and women. Prison is filled with those who who have gotten revenge to the ultimate degree. Thus the Lord warns us all to not even give the thought of adultery a chance of planting a seed in our hearts. Vengeance is mine says the Lord, but in the moment of anger and hurt, logic and reason are often times far from ones mind. It is a sin that can destroy many lives.

Biblical Lessons, Phylacteries, & Proverbs 3:1-4

Today's chosen commentary is on Proverbs 3:1-4 which alludes to Deuteronomy 6:6-8. In this passage, God tells the people how they can be assured they will always keep the law. Like all things, it comes with repetition so that it will be trained into our memory. Something we are to diligently teach our children, so that when they get older the law will be always in the forefront of their consciousness. For us Christians, we too should raise our children to know the Scriptures as they know how to walk. Everyday is a time to learn something new about the things of Christ. Everyday is a chance to ensure their eternal Salvation and a place in heaven.

Will You Speak Up For The Speechless? Proverb 31:8-9

A Planetary Genocide

  • More than 1.5 BILLION babies have been aborted worldwide in the past 50 years.
  • An estimated 50 million abortions are carried out throughout the world every year.
  • One in five pregnancies worldwide end in abortion.
  • Approximately 90% of Down syndrome babies are aborted worldwide.
  • 42% of all yearly deaths in the world are from abortion.
  • Every two seconds a baby is aborted - every time your heartbeats a baby dies.
  • A study reported that in 2011 alone 163 MILLION babies were aborted simply because they were girls.
  • While baby girls are a target of abortions in 3rd world countries, in the West, and particularly in the Unites States, more and more boys are becoming the main target of abortions.

What Is His Name, If You Know? Proverb 30:4

The proverb asks if you know the name of the One who ascended to and descended from heaven, the One who gathered the wind in His fists, the One who bound the waters into a garment, the One who established all the ends of the earth. It asks if you know the name of Him, or His Son's name.

Some 900 years before Jesus was born, this proverb alerted the Israelites that God's Son would appear on earth. A prophecy bound up in a proverb. Long before the Pharisees would accuse Him of equating Himself with God, Agur knew God's Son who would descend from heaven and claim to be the Son of God.

Europe's Changing Borders Exemplify Proverbs 28:2

Throughout history, the borders of the world have changed many, many times. Solomon tells us that because of the transgressions of the land, it will have many rulers.

This video shows how the borders of Europe changed through the years from 1411 to 2012. We all know that land cannot transgress, but Proverb 28:2 speaks of the rulers and it's people of those lands who sinned. Thus their sins lead to many different rulers and owners of the land instead of a continuous ownership and control by the same people.

Are You Cheerful Or hesitant When You Give? Proverb 19:17

Sometimes it's those with the least that give the most. Jesus used a widow's offering to teach a lesson of giving from the heart.
Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them;
"Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury;
for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."
Mark 12:41-44
It's easy to give when what you give does not even effect you, but when was the last time you went out of your way to give more than you thought the person deserved? Now I am not saying one should go broke or end up homeless because you gave all away, but to give a smidgen when you have enough to truly make a difference in their situation is what Christ expects from us. Instead of fifty cents, maybe enough for a good breakfast or lunch. Or, if after reading this, and the Lord moves you, you could do more. Basically, I speak of the kind of love Christ wants from us.

Living A Life of a Desperado, Proverb 18:1

Interesting how today's Proverb is Proverb 18. I say interesting, because I had a dream last night about an old friend I haven't see in years. His name is Larry, and he was a preacher of his own church in Columbus Georgia. The last time I saw him was a time in my life when all I wanted was to be away from people. If anyone got too close I would disappear.

It was after my 2nd marriage fell apart, and I was pretty much wondering around the country. I would stay in a place long enough to work a few Months and then leave town without notifying anyone. Sometimes I would leave without even collecting my last paycheck. I figured if I wasn't going to give a notice why collect the check.

Is Your Focus the World, or Christ? Proverb 15:16-17

When you read the news, it's difficult to feel positive about the future. Every thing reported, points to a world nearing a climactic end. Economically, politically, environmentally, socially, religiously, morally and culturally, we can see the prophecies of how the times before the end will be, unfolding right before our eyes. The uncertainty has stoked fears that have produced one of the highest suicide rates ever.

To be honest, my heart sinks as I look at the prognosis for the future of my children and grandchildren. If mankind does not turn to God in repentance of sin soon, then billions of humans will be like those who missed Noah's boat ride through the flood, and they will be lost for eternity.

Be Wise About Foolish Friends, Proverb 13:20

You are the company you keep. This well-known saying is a short and weak version of God's true warning;
He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
Proverb 13:20
Without a doubt, this could be one of the most important Proverbs a Christians can learn, and probably the most important lesson for Christian parents. At the least, it is one of the most valuable lessons any Christian can learn if they desire to prosper in life.

Do You Love God The Way Your Dog Loves You? Proverb 12:10

Back in 2013, two days after Christmas, I had to have our beloved 18 year old dog, Hershee, euthanize. Her kidneys had shut down and she was in so much pain she could not even settle down for more than five minutes at a time. So the merciful thing to do was to end her life.

It's easy to talk about it now, but at the time it was as if a member of our family had died. Maybe this should not be, I mean after all, she was just a dog. But, whether we choose to accept it or not, Hershee felt that she was one of us, and we treated her as if we would treat any member of our family. We were her "pack" so to speak, and I trust that she felt herself a valuable member of that pack. She ate good when we ate good, was happy when we were happy and always tried to do her part, even if it was just to bark and growl at people she didn't know.

Don't Cast Off Restraint, Have Faith In Christ, Proverb 29:18

Through the years, many have misunderstood today's verse. They have come to believe that since the people perish due to a lack of vision what they need to survive is to have a pastor who casts visions or a prophet who shares visions. Thus we end up with many of the false teachers on television who take advantage of young Christians by playing upon their ignorance of the Scriptures. This particular proverb is taken out of context so often, because they fail to understand how this Proverb is constructed.
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But happy is he who keeps the law.
Proverb 29:18

Corrupt Lawbreaking Sinners, Proverb 28

We have a name for third world countries, where the leaders steal from, maim, and kill it's citizens indiscriminately, or even worse the people in those nations allow others to do so. We call them Tin-Horn Dictatorships, where the leaders are no better than terrorists, tyrants, and warlords. Throughout the 1900's we have seen plenty, from Hitler, Stalin and Lenin, and now we see them in North Korea, Argentina, and in the Middle east.

They rule over their empires, nations, or blocs with the iron fist, suppressing freedoms and dissent from the status quo. They are lawbreakers of the highest order. We even see them in America, like the Mafia, gang leaders, drug Lords. It also happens in households where a parent, husband or a wife, will rule the home like a despot over a nation. Then, lest I forget, it even happens where politicians will use their power and influence to commit crimes and then their political friends will let them off easy, while the common man and woman will face financial ruin or even life in jail for lesser crimes.

Never Feed The Fires of Gossip, Proverb 26:20

Nothing destroys relationships more than gossip. Often times those who spread gossip never consider full ramifications of what they are saying, even if the trouble they start, as it often times does, comes back to bite them. I found this quote about gossip, it says it so well;
I am more deadly than the screaming shell of a howitzer. I win without killing. I tear down homes, break hearts, and wreck lives. I travel on the wings of the wind. No innocence is strong enough to intimidate me, no purity pure enough to daunt me. I have no regard for truth, no respect for justice, no mercy for the defenseless. My victims are as numerous as the sands of the sea, and often as innocent. I never forget and seldom forgive. My name is Gossip.
Today I'm sharing Matthew Henry's commentary on Proverb 26:20

Living Financially Smart, Proverb 23:4-5

Here is some good advice I found years ago and saved in a file. Not sure where I gathered it from, but it's good advice on finances on how to survive during good, bad, and especially uncertain times by preparing for the future. It is never too late to change one's ways, since you know not when God will bring you home. So if you are nearing retirement with the understanding that none of your ancestors lived past 85, beware, you could be the one who lives to be 110. that would be 25 years longer than you believe you will live. However, God could also call you home today.

The idea is to always be willing to accept good advice, and never believe it is too late to prepare for the future. One never knows what tomorrow may bring. I am nearing 61, and unemployed. 5 years ago I believed my job was secure and I would retire when I hit 65, or maybe later if I desired to continue working. The company I had worked the last 25 years for was forced to close down from the financial burdens of Obamacre.
